Cherokee Nation Business Enterprises

Business Enterprises maintained under the Tribal Government employs 24 people and generated revenues of $2,148,013.87 in FY 2001. Business Enterprises expended $1,826,563.41 of the 2001 revenue. Business Enterprises includes the Landfill, Golf Course, Ranch Operations, and Tsa La Gi Elderly and Disabled Apartments.

The Landfill, located in Adair County, has the largest impact of the four Business Enterprises:

    Employs 13 people

Generated $1,488,307.96 in FY 2001 revenue

Provides safe, effective waste disposal for four NE Oklahoma counties (Adair, Cherokee, Delaware, and Muskogee) and four NW Arkansas Counties

CN landfill not regulated by State or Federal Government, but as responsible stewards of the land we meet or exceed all federal and state environmental regulations

Prior to the Landfill’s opening, Adair County was the number one county in the State for "wildcat" dumps

In FY2001, accepted 35,000 tons of waste from NE Oklahoma and 34,000 tons of waste from Arkansas

Our landfill not only provides environmentally effective waste disposal, we keep the cost of waste disposal for area residence approximately 50% below the current market price (we do charge more for out of state disposal)

"We are too great a nation to limit ourselves to small dreams."

"Working together let us continue to build on the foundation of accomplishments established the last three years."
